Moving

We are moving...not far, actually just to the basement. We are renting out the main floor of our house. Yesterday Ron pressured me into picking a paint color...while I was at work. I sent him what I wanted (dusty rose) and guess what I ended up with? PINK, very bright pink. I guess that’s what I get for letting him pressure me into doing something I know I’ll regret.

This is the color I got.

This is the color I wanted.

I know his heart was in the right place..

The Flu

I really really hate the flu. It always strikes at the most inconvenient time.

Grocery Shopping

Wow am I ever exhausted. Walmart, Costco and the mall all in one day. I never do that. But surprise, surprise I am actually in better shape than I thought I was. Five hours of shopping!!! I NEVER go five hours at a time.
I had a great time with Jen and the kids and of course my wonderful hubby.

Spirituality and Recovery

I have noticed that if I am completely obedient to the commands of God and the prophets, I have my spirituality come back after an absence during my down times.
There was a study done about spirituality and depression and they found that the area in the brain that spirituality and depression are in the same area and that depression actually blocks the spirituality portion from being activated.
But if I'm am faithful in all my doings during that down time, I may not feel the spirit, but I know it is with me and I am not forgotten by my Lord.

Recovery

I'm pondering on my recovery and how I went from being hospitalized for multiple weeks each year to being quite independent. Last year I only spent three days in hospital and this year, so far, none.

My conclusion is:
- a wonderful doctor who is interested in me and actually researched my meds and made me promise not to go off them.
- exercise (I'm embarrassed to admit I exercise with my 78 year old father's seniors class. Those seniors are in GOOD shape.)
- service (I'm involved in Parent Council, I'm on the soccer board, I volunteer at the senior's exercise group and I'm a cub leader.)
- activity (I work in the temple every Thursday for an hour or so, and I attend group therapy sessions twice a week. These things get me up, dressed and out of the house.)
- grooming (I've put a lot of thought into this one. I believe on the days I get up, get dressed and do my hair, I feel like I can face almost anything.)
- a clean house (I will admit I have a cleaner come in twice a week. These are my circumstances, I can afford one.

These are the changes I have made in the past two years and I am no longer afraid.

Weather

I was enjoying spring until we got a foot of snow dumped on us in 24 hours. But I must admit, it is beautiful and it seems like God's way of making everything seem white and pure.

Time Out For Women

I'm going to time out for women tonight and tomorrow. I'm looking forward to be spiritually uplifted and edified. I have high hopes that my meds will allow me to feel the spirit and enjoy the company I am going with.

Wish me luck!

Testimony

I'm beginning to realize how much I rely upon The Lord for really important decisions in my life. Even if I don't get a strong answer, a peaceful feeling lets me know I've made the right decision. Thank goodness for General Conference to remind me of the fundamentals of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Weather and being Bipolar

I'm enjoying the spring. It means I get a summer long mania. No more rapid cycling. WHOO HOO!!

My meds are stabilized so I'm not worried about doing something I might regret, thank goodness. I just get to enjoy a summer of camping and swimming.

New Year, New Challenge

I have challenged myself to be more positive this year and to take a page out of my niece's life handbook and blog more about my daily life.  http://familymoxley.blogspot.com

I am trying to do a 365 day photo challenge.  I don't have near enough photos of James and he is growing up so fast I need to catch up.  He grew 2" from September to December.  WOW!!!

We spent out New Year's Day in worship at church and then napping and finally chilling out with Star Wars V,
our new obsession since James had a Lego Christmas
that included the wii game Lego Star Wars.

Not Even A Year

Wow, it's not even been a year and already I need to have my meds checked.  I'm not having episodes like I used to have, but I'm cycling two to three times a day.  What the heck?  I promised my doctor I would stay on the meds for a full year, and I will, but it is really hard when the disease almost gets the better of me.
